Our Mission
Boldly living with Christ, we open doors to God's household of love as we welcome and embrace all people through worship, service, and learning within and beyond our walls.
VERSE OF THE DAY: God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the
mountains fall into the heart of the sea.
-- Psalm 46:1-2
St. Thomas GLBT Resolution 2008
Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and
Transgendered Resolution passed at the 2008 Annual Meeting
We support full inclusion of gay,
lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered (GLBT) people in every aspect of the life
of St. Thomas Church, and this diocese.
We support offering ALL of the
Sacraments, including Marriage/Blessing of a Relationship and Ordination, to all of God’s People, including, of
course, GLBT people.
We agree with Nobel Peace Laureate
and South African Archbishop Desmond Tutu, who says, homophobia is “a crime
against Humanity” and “every bit as unjust” as apartheid.
We believe that our church, which
offers Blessing to Animals, must no longer deny them to committed monogamous
couples.
We believe that
the GLBT members of this congregation are part of the Body of Christ.
We believe that
silence can be interpreted as consent, and we can no longer be silent.
We believe that
justice delayed is justice denied, and the time of action has come.
